the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

The Tree of Knowledge, or The Tree of Life. Which Will YOU Choose?
When we examine the Garden of Eden narrative, we often focus exclusively on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Yet Scripture reveals two significant trees: the tree of life positioned in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Yahweh's instruction to Adam was clear: eat from every tree except one. This divine command suggests Adam was intended to partake of the tree of life regularly. Instead, Adam chose knowledge over life, pursuing understanding apart from Elohim's wisdom.
This choice reveals a fundamental tension between human reasoning and divine truth. The serpent's deception centered on acquiring knowledge, yet Yahweh had already provided access to life itself. When we study falsehood extensively to guard against it, we must ask ourselves: which tree are we consuming from? Instead, we are to choose life, an intimate relationship with Yahweh.
The tree of life finds its ultimate fulfillment in Yeshua, who declared Himself "the way, the truth, and the life." Through Mashiach, we can return to that original invitation to partake of life abundant. The Word of Yahweh serves as our tree of life today, offering wisdom, understanding, and eternal sustenance when we approach it with hearts submitted to His instruction.

A Banquet of Joy: Our Divine Invitation

A Banquet of Joy: Our Divine Invitation
Yeshua's parable of the wedding feast reveals the eternal invitation extended to us by our Heavenly Father. In Matthew 22 and Luke 14, we see a king preparing a magnificent banquet for his son's wedding, calling forth guests to participate in this celebration of covenant relationship.
The original invitees made excuses, prioritizing worldly concerns over the King's invitation. One purchased a field, another bought oxen, still another had married. These same excuses that exempted men from battle in Torah became barriers to entering Yahweh's presence at His table.
Today, this invitation remains open. Yahweh has prepared His table before us, even in the presence of our enemies, as David proclaimed in Psalm 23. The banquet represents our covenant relationship with Elohim through Mashiach, where righteousness becomes our wedding garment.
We face the same choice as those first invited guests. Will we allow life's distractions to prevent us from accepting this divine invitation? The King's banquet awaits, and His table is prepared for us to feast in His presence.

Go Fishin' - A Call to Discipleship
In Matthew 28:18-20, Yeshua delivers His final commission with absolute authority, commanding us to make disciples of all nations while teaching obedience to His commandments. This mandate connects directly to His earlier call when He promised to make His followers "fishers of men."
The powerful illustration in John 21:1-6 reveals how easily we drift back to familiar patterns when circumstances challenge our faith. After Yeshua's crucifixion, the disciples returned to their nets, catching nothing through their own efforts. Yet when the resurrected Mashiach appeared on the shore and directed their fishing, their obedience yielded an overwhelming catch of 153 fish.
This prophetic encounter reminds us that discipleship requires surrendering our understanding to Yahweh's wisdom. The numerical significance of 153, representing the "sons of Elohim," points to the restoration of scattered Israel through faithful disciples who walk in Yeshua's footsteps.
True discipleship means teaching others to observe everything Yeshua commanded, immersing them in the reality of the Father, Son, and Ruach HaKodesh. We are called to be talmidim who follow our Master's example, keeping His Torah written on our hearts as we fish for souls among all nations.

Lessons from the Month of Av: Faith and Love in Biblical History
The fifth biblical month of Av carries much spiritual significance, offering timeless lessons for believers walking in covenant relationship with Yahweh. This sacred period reminds us of two pivotal moments that shaped Israel's destiny and continue to instruct us today.
During Av, the twelve spies returned from the Promised Land with their report. While ten brought fear and doubt, only Joshua and Caleb demonstrated unwavering faith in Yahweh's promises. This teaches us to trust Elohim's word above circumstances, knowing that covenant faithfulness leads to divine blessing and fulfillment of His purposes.
Most remarkably, both Holy Temples were destroyed on the ninth of Av, separated by centuries yet occurring on the identical date (586 BCE and 70 CE). The sages of Israel attributed the Second Temple's destruction to sinat chinam—baseless hatred among the people.
Yeshua's greatest commandments ring with prophetic clarity: love Yahweh completely and love your neighbor as yourself. When believers embody this divine love daily, we become living temples, rebuilding what hatred destroyed. The month of Av calls us to examine our hearts, forsake division, and walk in the unity that honors our Mashiach.

The Sermons on the Mounts: Two Mountains, One Message
When we examine the teachings Yeshua delivered on the mountain in Matthew 5-7, we discover something: these words do not contradict the instructions given at Mount Sinai, but rather reveal their deepest spiritual meaning. The Sermon on the Mount represents Yeshua's divine interpretation of Torah, showing us how the eternal principles given through Moses find their ultimate expression in heart-level obedience.
Yeshua brought the instructions of Yahweh to a more accountable level in our lives, demonstrating that outward compliance without genuine heart transformation falls short of Yahweh's intent. His teachings illuminate a crucial truth: the condition of our hearts matters immensely when we respond to what Yahweh asks of us.

The Law of Liberty: Walking in Covenant Relationship
The heart of biblical faith centers on covenant relationship with Yahweh, established through redemption and sustained through His Word. This understanding reveals that Yeshua came not to abolish the Torah but to fulfill it, demonstrating how we should walk in righteousness after receiving new life.
Once redeemed, we need guidance on how to live in a way that pleases Yahweh. The Torah serves as this perfect law of liberty, providing freedom from sin, bondage, and destructive patterns while leading us into life and blessing. Rather than being burdensome, Yahweh's Word becomes our teacher, discipling us in paths of righteousness.
The prophetic promise of the New Covenant involves Elohim writing His Torah upon our hearts, transforming us from within. This internal transformation enables us to walk according to the Spirit rather than flesh, fulfilling the Torah's requirements through love.
Yeshua's sacrifice removes condemnation while establishing us as servants of righteousness. The Word of Yahweh remains our guide for holy living, offering wisdom, correction, and training in righteousness. Through circumcised hearts and renewed spirits, we discover that Torah observance flows naturally from an intimate relationship with our Creator, bringing joy and spiritual vitality to those who embrace this covenant walk.

The blind man, walking trees, & identity
Friday Jul 11, 2025

The account of the blind man in Mark 8:22-25 reveals interesting truths about Yeshua's healing ministry and our spiritual transformation. When brought to Yeshua in Bethsaida, the blind man experienced a unique two-stage healing that demonstrates how our Messiah not only heals but makes us completely whole.
After Yeshua applied saliva to the man's eyes and laid hands on him, the man declared, "I see people, but they look like trees, walking." This partial vision required a second touch from Yeshua before complete clarity was restored. The symbolism runs deep: throughout Scripture, trees often represent people, and this man's initial perception reflects our own journey from spiritual blindness to full understanding.
The healing occurred outside Bethsaida, a village that had rejected Yeshua's ministry. This detail emphasizes the importance of leaving environments of unbelief to encounter our Messiah fully. The prophetic implications connect to Israel's restoration and the regathering of the lost tribes, fulfilling ancient promises made to the patriarchs.
This miraculous account teaches us that Yeshua's work in our lives is both instantaneous and progressive, transforming us from spiritual blindness to a clear vision of His identity and our calling within Yahweh's redemptive plan.

The Heart of Worship (thoughts for the month of Tammuz)

The Heart of Worship (thoughts for the month of Tammuz)
Just one month after Israel heard Yahweh's voice at Mount Sinai, they fashioned a golden calf and declared, "Tomorrow shall be a feast to Yahweh." This reveals the dangerous tendency to worship our ideas while invoking His sacred Name, the ultimate deception that transforms worship into idolatry.
The golden calf incident warns against fashioning Elohim according to our preferences rather than His revealed character. When we create comfortable alternatives to Yahweh's instructions, we veil ourselves from an authentic relationship with the Creator. Aaron molded their idolatrous understanding into worship of Yahweh. This directly violates Yahweh's command not to adopt foreign religious practices.
Scripture presents a covenant relationship through imagery of marriage. Idolatry represents spiritual adultery, unfaithfulness to our covenant Husband. Moses administered the test for an unfaithful bride, grinding the idol into water that Israel drank, paralleling Numbers 5's ritual for suspected adultery.
Yahweh has given clear instructions for worship, including the Sabbath as a perpetual covenant sign. We're called to worship in spirit and truth, not in the spirit of our desires masquerading as truth. As Yeshua's bride, we must remain faithful, preparing ourselves without spot or wrinkle for our returning Bridegroom.

Grace and Justice: The Divine Balance

Grace and Justice: The Divine Balance
Throughout the tapestry of Scripture, grace and justice emerge not as opposing forces but as harmonious expressions of Yahweh's character. The psalmist beautifully captures this divine balance: "Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other" (Psalm 85:10).
The grace bestowed upon each believer remains constant; none require more or less than what Yahweh provides. When Rav Sha'ul wrestled with his struggles, Yahweh declared, "My grace is sufficient for you." This divine grace equips every soul to walk victoriously through life's challenges, yet we must remember that Yahweh extends grace according to His sovereign will.
Yeshua demonstrates this perfect union where justice demands payment for transgression, while grace provides redemption through Mashiach's sacrifice. This prophetic fulfillment reveals Yahweh's nature as both just and justifier.
As recipients of the grace of Yahweh, we face a crucial question: Do we harbor resentment when Elohim extends grace to others? The parable of the vineyard workers challenges our entitled hearts, reminding us that divine generosity toward others should inspire gratitude, not envy.
Torah principles guide us toward righteous living, not as burdensome obligations, but as loving responses to the grace we have received. True spiritual maturity manifests when we extend to others the same grace we desperately desire for ourselves.

Perception or Reality_Don't Believe Everything You See 061425
Our human perception often creates a distorted lens through which we view circumstances, filtered by past experiences, expectations, and personal biases. This fundamental disconnect between appearance and reality becomes particularly evident in Israel's wilderness experience when twelve spies were sent to reconnoiter the Promised Land.
The spies' report reveals how perspective shapes our understanding of Elohim's promises. Though they witnessed the land's abundance, their focus shifted to perceived obstacles, causing them to see themselves as "grasshoppers" before their enemies. Remarkably, the inhabitants actually feared Israel, knowing Yahweh's mighty works. This contrast demonstrates how our limited viewpoint can obscure the truth of Yahweh’s Word.
Scripture calls us to "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7), trusting Yahweh's ways even when circumstances appear overwhelming. The commandment regarding tzitzit serves as a visual reminder to follow His Torah rather than our wandering hearts and deceiving eyes.
When we anchor ourselves in Yahweh's unchanging Word and Yeshua's example, we transcend deceptive perceptions and walk confidently in His promises, regardless of temporal appearances.
